The NHS supports economic growth in the following ways:
- enabling a healthy active population that is more productive, and more economically active
- adopting innovations to improve the NHS’s efficiency giving more health benefit for less
- accelerating adoption and diffusion of innovation to support the life science industry
- commercialising and exporting innovation, ideas and expertise in partnership with industry
The Eastern AHSN believes that the improvement of healthcare and the improvement of our economy are two sides of the same coin.
We work with our partners in and outside the NHS to accelerate the take up of known best practice and to identify gaps in current provision. We scout for the very best ideas – working with established global pharma companies and medical and bio-technology start-ups to transform care. For industry partners we provide a front door to the NHS to accelerate adoption and help you to navigate our region. For NHS partners we can help you commercialise your ideas and bring you together with innovators in other sectors.
“The NHS is there to improve our health and well-being, supporting us to keep mentally and physically well, to get better when we are ill and, when we cannot fully recover, to stay as well as we can to the end of our lives. It works at the limits of science – bringing the highest levels of human knowledge and skill to save lives and improve health. It touches our lives at times of basic human need, when care and compassion are what matter most.”
