Helping companies on their health innovation journey with NHS Readiness

By Karen Livingstone, Director of Partnerships and Industry Engagement

Our NHS Readiness series took place over 2017/18, with the last event on 19 March. The programme focussed on helping healthcare companies navigate access to the NHS, develop more compelling business propositions and effective budget impact models for their products.

NHS Readiness events have covered a variety of topics to support companies and innovators working to transform healthcare, from raising investment and understanding NHS commissioning, to NHS procurement and support for developing business cases. Our NHS procurement webkit also provides a useful guide. We’ve helped 500 companies to engage with the NHS, and attendees have given us some great feedback on the support we offer:

“The one-to-one session with EAHSN was a great opportunity to explore different approaches to our current thinking.  It was extremely informative to learn about the focussed test beds throughout the NHS where we could potentially set up trials with new technology. Updates on the NHS procurement system extremely useful. Great learning opportunity and network.” Paul Scott, UK Business Development Manager, Podfo Ltd

“I’ve been to quite a few NHS orientation-style events and this was genuinely useful! I came away from the presentations with a really improved understanding of the structure of the NHS at all levels, along with some concrete actions to improve Hospify’s approach. My meeting with Mark was just great – he really got what we are trying to achieve and had some smart ideas, which I am now following up.” James Flint, CEO, Hospify

“The NHS Readiness events are easy to follow, informative and provide a great opportunity for networking. The commissioning session was really helpful for developing a strategy to contact providers. The one to one bespoke sessions and focussed chats with expert advisers throughout the event were great for getting some instruction and coaching for successfully approaching providers.” Tom Muller, Sales Adviser, Docobo Ltd.

If you missed the series or would like more advice on engaging with the NHS and developing your business case, there is another opportunity at the AHSN Network’s ‘Bridging the Gap’ event event on 2 May, open to all health technology companies. Join commercial directors from across the AHSN Network to find out more about local NHS priorities and approaches, how AHSN support can bridge the gap between industry and the NHS, national programmes, networks and resources.
